Abstract

This article aims to examine how oppositional attitudes towards the construction of the Jerusalem wall in the context of the narrative of rebuilding the Jerusalem wall of Nehemiah 4. The study uses the text exposition method by paying attention to the genre of Nehemiah 4 to identify narrative elements that reflect resistance to the Jerusalem wall construction project. The results of the analysis show that the narratives in Nehemiah 4 depict various forms of resistance to the Jerusalem wall building project, including physical threats, scorn, and political intrigue. Nehemiah and his community faced this opposition with various strategies, such as organizing protection, praying, and maintaining their determination to complete the project. The researcher discovered how resistance influenced the reconstruction efforts, and the spirit of reconstruction motivated them to overcome the opposition. Reconciliation to opposition led to resistance and led to reconstruction influenced by the figure of Nehemiah. ABSTRAKArtikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana sikap oposisi terhadap pembangunan tembok Yerusalem dalam konteks narasi rebuilding tembok Yerusalem Nehemia 4. Studi ini menggunakan metode eksposisi teks dengan memperhatikan genre dari Nehemia 4 untuk mengidentifikasi elemen-elemen naratif yang mencerminkan resistensi terhadap proyek pembangunan tembok Yerusalem. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa narasi dalam Kitab Nehemia 4 menggambarkan berbagai bentuk resistensi terhadap proyek pembangunan tembok Yerusalem, termasuk ancaman fisik, pencemoohan, dan intrik politik. Nehemia dan komunitasnya menghadapi oposisi ini dengan berbagai strategi, seperti mengorganisir perlindungan, berdoa, dan mempertahankan tekad mereka untuk menyelesaikan proyek tersebut. Peneliti menemukan bagaimana resistensi memengaruhi upaya rekonstruksi, dan semangat rekonstruksi memotivasi mereka untuk mengatasi oposisi yang ada. Rekonsiliasi terhadap oposisi menimbulkan resistensi dan berujung kepada rekontruksi yang dipengaruhi oleh figur Nehemia. Kata-kata Kunci: Resistensi, Rekontruksi, Nehemia 4, Oposisi
